| TREAT TB to Test a Shortened, Standardised Treatment Regimen of Anti-TB Drugs for Patients with MDR-TB Trial (STREAM) |

In response to the urgent need for accessible and effective MDR-TB treatment, TREAT-TB will sponsor a single-arm, multi-centre trial to determine if the standardised regimen, which achieved notable success in Bangladesh in recent years, will have similarly effective results in other settings. The Damien Foundation developed this regimen and, in partnership with the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM), demonstrated cure rates exceeding 80% in a cohort of over 200 patients.
The Union is currently working with the Medical Research Council (MRC) in the United Kingdom to develop the protocol for this important trial. The research team expects to implement STREAM in several countries over a period of approximately three years.
